On Saturday, Feb. 17, the Lady Warrior basketball team faced off against the Bethany College Swedes. The game carried weight for the team — not only because it was the senior’s last hoorah on their home court, but it also determined whether the team would make it to quarter- finals.
They succeeded. Thanks to a final score from Saturday’s game of 74 – 66 in Sterling’s favor, the Lady Warriors will be headed to the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, Kan. on Wednesday, Feb. 21 for the KCAC quarter-finals tournament. The team may then only be a step away from making it to the semi-finals.
Currently, the team’s record stands at 16-13 and they are ranked fifth out of 12 teams in the KCAC. Friends University stands at first in the conference, Bethany College is ranked second, and Oklahoma Wesleyan is in third, according to the KCAC website.
The Lady Warriors will be competing in the tournament on Wednesday. The game against the University of Saint Mary Spires will begin at 7 p.m.
