We are pleased to have 4 categories for submissions this year (Under 5 minutes, Under 2 minutes, Filmed with smartphone, and Film Noir or Black & White Films). All content created must be owned by the person who makes the submission. All submissions must be completed and fully submitted by 1 p.m. on April 13th. Submissions are made for the cost of $10 per submitter. You may submit up to 4 films with the cost of your submission per individual. If schools would like to make individual submissions, those need to be submitted under each specific director’s name and fees will be paid per director.
To submit your film, simply fill out the submission form below. If you have more than one submission, fill out the form for each film you wish to submit.
Please mail all checks payable to the Warriors Film Festival, attn: Ryan Corwin, Assistant Professor of Communication, Sterling College, 125 W. Cooper, Sterling, KS 67579.
The official submission form is below.
Want to participate but are having a hard time considering what you might want to create? Here are a few suggestions for each category!
Under 5 or under 2 minute shorts
Documentary, Mockumentary, action, comedy, romantic comedy, sci-fi, thriller, you name it — any traditional film genre is accepted for these categories (please, no films that would be rated at high greater than PG-13, as we may have children present). Focus on telling a great story, in a technically sound manner.
Film Noir (or Black & White)
Have an idea for a scene that doesn’t require dialogue? How about a mystery film with dialogue that could look swell in black and white? Film noir or the Black & White film category may be for you.
Made with Smartphone
Any form of narrative is acceptable, but the only camera that may be used would be on your smartphone. Scenes or snippets that are filmed using DSLR technology or cinema grade cameras will be rejected for this category. Grab your phone, craft a narrative, and tell your story well!
Who is eligible to enter?
Those who are currently enrolled as degree-seeking students from any college in the state of Kansas, or those enrolled as a student in any high school or home school equivalent addressed in the state of Kansas are eligible to enter. Have any questions? Contact Ryan Corwin at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Conditions: 1) Items using material that is not the owned work of the individual who submits said work (including music subject to copyright for which you are not the rightful owner) will be rejected immediately; 2) Films may only be submitted once, and may not be submitted into multiple categories; 3) Films over 5 minutes will not be accepted in the 5 minutes or under category; 4) Films over 3 minutes will not be accepted in the 3 minutes or under category.
